WELCOME HOME

When a woman crosses the threshold of Maison le Paravent, she finds herself at a point of total disarray.
She arrives in survival mode, focused solely on the urgency of the moment.
Her self-esteem is fragmented, and her trust in others is fragile. Often, the weight of precarious mental health and the refuge of substance use have clouded her future. With her confidence deeply shaken,
self-reliance feels entirely out of reach.
At this moment, her priority is to find a secure environment—a stable home where she no longer has to live in fear or justify her existence.
REBUILDING THROUGH ACTION
This is where your support comes in. Maison le Paravent is more than just a shelter; it is a catalyst for change.
To move from survival to autonomy, each woman commits to an active process of acquiring life enabling tools:
-
Acquiring Concrete Tools: She receives guidance through budgetary, administrative, and legal steps to stabilize her situation.
-
Developing Personal Skills: She works on emotional management and self-confidence to reclaim power over her life.
-
Social Reintegration: She consolidates what she has learned to ensure a successful transition to independent housing and active participation in society.
When she leaves us, she is no longer the same. She departs much better equipped to embark on a new chapter of her life
To offer a safe, caring and structured place to house, support and equip women who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, so that they can regain control over their lives, at their own pace, and chart their own path towards autonomy.

WHY A WOMEN-ONLY ACCOMMODATION RESOURCE?
Women generally prefer to use single-sex accommodation services.
All stakeholders in the MRCs are calling for additional resources specifically dedicated to women experiencing homelessness.

WHAT SETS US APART
We believe it is important that every woman receives the support she truly needs. Before welcoming each woman, we take the time to assess whether our living environment is best equipped to support her in reaching her full potential.
This is why we ask women who wish to stay in our shelter to commit to concrete steps that promote their social reintegration. Our approach is based on active participation: choosing our home means choosing to invest in a rich community life. Whether it's preparing a meal, sharing daily tasks, or getting involved in activities, every action becomes a step towards reintegration.
Our strength also lies in our partnerships. By working closely with regional stakeholders, we guarantee that every woman has access to the resources best suited to her individual journey. Together, we optimize every service so that no one is left behind.
