OUR STORY
Three nights sleeping outside.
Three nights in fear.
Chloé experienced it.
Despite her desire to receive help and get back on her feet, her requests went unanswered. No resources were available to take her in. No other solutions were offered. She found herself alone, left to fend for herself, at a time when every closed door felt like a heavy burden.
Who do you turn to when you are a woman in a situation of extreme vulnerability or homelessness, and no place seems able to offer you a safe space to breathe?
Chloé's story is unfortunately not unique. Too many women experience precarious, often invisible, situations and face a glaring lack of resources tailored to their realities. Without prompt and compassionate support, their situation can deteriorate, exposing them to insecurity, isolation, and a loss of bearings.
It is in this context that La Maison Le Paravent was born.
Located in the Lower Laurentians, La Maison Le Paravent is designed to be a true home: a safe, inclusive, and peaceful place where every woman is welcomed without judgment. Here, we offer much more than just shelter. We provide a space to catch her breath and begin a new chapter with dignity.
Listening to each woman's journey, we do everything we can to support her towards greater autonomy, respecting her pace and choices. Our human-centered approach is based on mutual support, communication, and building lasting relationships.
Maison Le Paravent works in collaboration with organizations that share the same values to offer comprehensive support that takes into account physical, mental, financial, and family health. Together, we create a strong social safety net capable of supporting these women at a pivotal moment in their lives.
Because before leaving again, you first need to have a place where you feel at home.

OUR FOUNDER
At Maison le Paravent, each step of our evolution is supported by faces, convictions and a sincere commitment to the women of our region.
We wish to express our deep gratitude to our founder, Marie-Hélène Bilodeau-Brunet, who, with the support of our president Jean-René Halde, transformed a vision into reality. Marie-Hélène not only founded the organization; she laid its solid foundations, creating a living environment imbued with dignity and security.
The tremendous work she has accomplished in recent years has allowed Maison le Paravent to become an essential pillar for women experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Her determination has forged the soul of our shelter.
