This Privacy Policy (hereinafter the “ Policy ”) is intended to help you understand the practices of the organization La Maison Le Paravent (the “Maison”, “ we ” or “ us ”) regarding the collection, use, disclosure and retention of personal information.
Our policy applies when you interact with us through our website, for example, when you submit your application for one of our posted positions, or when you fill out a form as a donor or to request to be hosted by the House.
By providing us with personal information through our website, email, in person or by telephone, you agree that it will be processed in accordance with this Policy, and you authorize the House, its third parties and its service providers to process your personal information for the purposes set out below.
WHO ARE WE AND WHAT DO WE DO
Located in the Lower Laurentians, the shelter aims to be a safe, inclusive, and restful place for women experiencing homelessness. Much more than just a basic accommodation solution, we listen to them and do everything we can to help them regain their autonomy, dignity, and a glimmer of hope in life.
WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
We may collect and process different types of personal information in the course of our business activities and service provision, including:

We do not knowingly collect information from children or others under the age of 14. If you are under 14, please do not provide us with any personal information without the express consent of a parent or guardian. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your children have provided us with personal information, please contact us. If we learn that we have collected personal information from minors without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.

Donors
We collect your personal information directly from you when you fill out our donation form on our website.
Volunteers, employees and users
We collect your personal information when you fill out the form on our website or when you send us your application by email.
HOW DO WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We may also use personal information in one of the ways described below, with your consent or, where applicable, on another legal basis. In each case, we will state the reasons for using your personal information:
In order to provide our services and for the conduct of our business, to administer and perform our services, including to fulfill our obligations arising from any agreement entered into between you and us.
To facilitate the use of our websites and to ensure that the content is relevant and to ensure that the content of our website is presented in the most effective way for you and your device.
For marketing and business development purposes – to provide details of new services, information about developments in our organization and industry, and invitations to seminars and events when an individual has opted in to receive such information.

WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION?
Staff from the charity will be available to provide technical support when completing the online form, to process your donation, and to follow up for tax purposes. It is important to note that when making an online donation, staff from the charity do not have access to your banking information.
Providers of services, platforms and technologies integrated or otherwise necessary for the operation of our website, our newsletter service and our online payment services operated by third parties.
Within the House, our staff, whose function requires it, will have access, in whole or in part, to your personal information.
Your personal information may also be accessible to other users than those mentioned above, if you authorize it.
HOW LONG DO WE RETAIN PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We will only retain personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy and to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

WHERE DO WE STORE PERSONAL INFORMATION AND TRANSFERS OUTSIDE QUEBEC?
Some information is kept in paper format at our employees' workstations. Your personal information is primarily held virtually on several servers and platforms, including the Maison's servers, cloud service provider platforms we use, and third-party servers. As part of using these platforms, your personal information may be transferred to and hosted outside of Quebec by these providers, particularly in other parts of Canada.
If we determine that disclosing your personal information outside of Quebec is necessary to support our operations, we will assess whether your personal information receives adequate protection in the event of such disclosure. We will only disclose your personal information if we believe it receives adequate protection. The disclosure will also be governed by an appropriate contractual agreement.

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. Specifically, we have put in place suitable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to ensure the protection of personal information.

Rectification: the right to request that any incomplete or inaccurate personal information we hold be corrected.

The right to be informed when using identification, location or profiling technology and of the means available to activate these functions;

The Maison website does not use permanent cookies on visitors' computers. However, a temporary cookie is used to optimize certain website functionalities.
